A bridge to somewhere opening in Hermann Park
If all 6 million of Hermann Park's annual visitors showed up at once, more than three people would occupy every square foot. An absurd scenario, to be sure, but still a testament to the popularity of central Houston's premier urban green space.With its zoo, theatrical productions and proximity to art and science museums, Hermann Park, which will mark its centennial in 2014, may be the best-explored real estate in town.
Now, with Friday's dedication of the $5 million Bill Coats Bike Bridge, visitors will, for the first time in decades, have easy access to 90 acres of parkland they may never have dreamed existed.
