Houston Barbecue Festival Photo Gallery

The pitmasters of the Houston Barbecue Festival, which takes over Reliant Park on April 6, share of a love of barbecue and a pride in the perfection of their product. After that, all paths diverge. Nearly 20 barbecue masters, mobile cooks and budding businessmen will be represented. Among them are a published poet, a Purple Heart recipient and a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef. We asked the pitmasters to tell us — in their own words — something about themselves. Most obliged.

A Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin-Robbins combo store will open at 10840 Scarsdale on April 5.

The soon-to-open store is in southeast Houston near Interstate 45 and Beltway 8.

It will be the 13th Dunkin’ Donuts store in the Houston area.

A Dunkin’ Donuts opened last month at 3051 Fry Road, the first one in the Katy area.

Dunkin’ Donuts plans to open five or six more stores in the area later this year, Nathan Pressler, the company’s field marketing manager for Texas and Oklahoma, said last month.

New Food at Minute Maid Part

Minute Maid Park will include Caswell's, Killen's Texas Smokehouse

It's anybody's guess how the Houston Astros will do in the American League West this season. But at Minute Maid Park's concession stands and gift shop, they're ready to "Play ball!"

I got a sneak peek Thursday morning at the stadium's new double-sized Majestic Homeplate Team Store behind home plate.

And a sneak eat of all the new items at food stands.

The team store found extra space when the stadium eliminated Larry's Big Bamboo beer and snack joint. Every shape and size of T-shirts, bobbleheads and Astros gear is there, including jerseys with names of players, like Jose Altuve, Jason Castro, L.J. Hoes and Brett Oberholtzer.

It's a veritable "Who's Who" of superstars - with the emphasis on "Who?"

That Batman car driving around Houston is now for sale

That Batman car driving around Houston is now for sale

If you have a spare $125,000 lying around you can pick up a Batcar in Kingwood, according to a Craigslist ad placed Tuesday.
The owner, John Salazar, has made a few of these Batcars actually. In 2011, he won an Art Car Parade award for his 1960s-era Batman car from the Adam West series and has been a parade regular.
Salazar was also profiled by the Houston Chronicle that year.
He sold that one for a cool $75,000.
Salazar, a real estate investor, said he has loved cars since he was a boy.
This Batcar is modeled off the one from the 1989 Tim Burton Batman flick. The real one is probably in a museum somewhere or in Michael Keaton's garage.
This Batcar doesn't have that cool burner in the back either, or the missiles and machine guns. It doesn't have that automatic anti-theft shield either.
