Fleming's Steakhouse

To celebrate its decade run in River Oaks, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is launching a monthlong series of dinners to benefit children’s cancer charities in Houston.

A bone-in rib-eye steak.: Nick de la Torre : 29-95

Each week in October, Fleming’s will choose a charity and donate $10 from each special dinner ordered. The dinners will feature three courses: a choice of fall harvest salad or seasonal soup followed by three entrée choices (shrimp and steak surf ’n’ turf, lamb chop or tuna mignon) served with Parmesan mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach, and berry cobbler for dessert. The dinner is $59.95, not including tax and gratuity.

Texas Chili Cook Off's

Ran across a couple of website that list Chili cook off's in the state of texas.

Upcoming Chili Cookoffs

CASI Website

Lone Star Chili Cook Off

Just a bit of FYI on Texas Chili:

There is only one kind of chili recognized by CASI: Texas red. No fillers are allowed, or as the rules state: "NO FILLERS IN CHILI - Beans, macaroni, rice, hominy, or other similar ingredients are not permitted." (In Texas putting beans in chili has replaced horse thievery as the number one hanging offense.)
