Restaurant Openings


  • Il Mondo Della Pizza has opened in the the Memorial Villages area. An open kitchen snakes along side the spare dining room. The menu features a handful of pizzas, as well pastas, steaks and seafood.

  • Smallcakes, a franchise bakery chain founded in Kansas, has opened its first Houston store. The bakery offers more than 80 flavor combinations for its custom cakes, cupcakes and whoopie pies.

  • Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has moved into the space on the Kemah Boardwalk formerly occupied by Joe’s Crab Shack. The restaurant offers 19 preparations of shrimp.

  • Zoës Kitchen continues to expand in Houston. The restaurant chain, which specializes in fresh, healthy fare, has opened a new store in the Rice Village. It also will open a spot in Vintage Park next month.
