Best quirky landmark?

Best quirky landmark?Big Tex is beating up the Beer Can House

  • Big Tex – Dallas.
As if we needed it, Texas is getting some big-time national exposure with four items on USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards for Best Quirky Landmark.

Big Tex in Dallas is leading the voting right now, with Carhenge in Nebraska in second place. Number 5 is Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo.

The Lone Star State's other two entries on the list of 20 nominees are Houston's own Beer Can House and the fake storefront Prada Marfa in Marfa.

You can vote every day until June 23, when voting ends. To cast your vote, go to the list of entries and click on the photo of the one you like best. I'm told that voting for Big Tex is encouraged.

The iconic figure at the entrance to the State Fair of Texas was destroyed by fire in October 2012 but was replaced almost a year later, on Sept. 26. At 55 feet, the new Big Tex is 3 feet taller than his predecessor and comes with fire-suppression features.
