Nordstrom possibly eyeing Woodlands Mall location

While there’s no confirmation from the retailer, our sources say Nordstrom is eyeing space at The Woodlands Mall for its second Houston store. Speculation is Nordstrom may go into the spot now occupied by Sears, which announced earlier this spring that it was selling its The Woodlands location to General Growth Properties, which owns the mall. Sears has said it plans to close about 120 stores and outlets.
Certainly, The Woodands’ residents would love having a Nordstrom nearby. The first Nordstrom, which opened in 2003, is at The Galleria.
Nordstrom spokesman Colin Johnson said the company is always looking for opportunities in Houston, as it does in other markets around the country. But, he said, at this time “We don’t have any information to announce.”
The Woodlands Mall is also the home to the new Victoria’s Secret PINK store, which is also the first one in Texas, and the celebrity frozen-yogurt fave Pinkberry, which opened last month.
BTW, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale continues through Aug. 5. This is the mega- sale offering great discounts on fall trends before the season.
