When Malachy was crowned the king of canines earlier this year, the audience cheered. But some in the peanut gallery pointed and laughed.
Judges at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in February proclaimed the 11-pound Pekingese an outstanding specimen with spotless demeanor. Internet wags argued Malachy resembled the love child of a "Star Wars" Ewok and Chewbacca. Or he looked like a Furby, Gizmo from "Gremlins," Fizzgig from "The Dark Crystal," a tribble from "Star Trek" or Cousin Itt's pet.
