Downpours soak Houston
Showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue for the next several days as moisture lingers in the Houston area.
An upper-level trough draped above the region is helping to create the rainfall that pushed into Tuesday that may continue through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters said showers will be scattered and some drenching downpours may be heavy, but no serious flooding or severe thunderstorms are expected. Some spots could record between about one inch and two inches of rainfall while other spots may get less. On Monday, Bush Intercontinental Airport received about a half of an inch of rain. Hobby Airport recorded 1.4 inches.
Rain chances may gradually decrease later in the week.
The high temperature today will be 88 degrees under cloudy skies. The low will be about 75.
Soaking rainfall is forecast to continue Wednesday, when a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is possible. The high will be about 87 degrees under cloudy skies. The low will near 74.
More showers and cloudy skies are possible Thursday. The high will be near 89 while the low will be about 75.
Rain chances may decrease slightly Friday and on the weekend. A 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms is possible each day. The highs will be in the lower 90s. The overnight lows will be in the mid 70s. Mostly cloudy skies are forecast for Friday, but the sun may peek out Saturday and Sunday.
