Luxury townhomes to replace historic mansion

Luxury townhomes to replace historic mansion

This upscale townhouse project, designed to include rooftop fireplaces, small pools, and custom interior finishes, will be built at 411 Lovett, the former site of the historic Frank Bullock mansion.

The mansion — seen in the second photo below — was demolished in March after a developer purchased the 5,000-square-foot building that sits on a 30,000-square-foot plot of land in Montrose.

Croix Custom Homes is building the new project, called Courtlandt Manor, a nod to the Courtlandt Place Historic District, a small collection of nearby houses each listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Attempting to capture the feel of an old English estate, the project will include 14 four-story homes surrounding a courtyard. The units will start at $875,000 and range in size from 2,906 square feet to 3,717 square feet.

The design was inspired by Wroxton Abbey, the builder said in a statement announcing the project.

The sales center is opening Wednesday. Sudhoff Properties is listing the units.

The Bullock mansion was developed in 1906 and for decades was home to the Houston’s City Federation of Women’s Clubs. It was known to be Houston’s first house with central air conditioning.
