Legendary Texas ranch listed for $9.5 million


A massive and historic ranch located in Lago Vista on the outskirts of Austin is up for sale and can be yours for $9.5 million.

Edgewater Ranch overlooks Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country. It is about 30 miles northwest of Austin on about 109.45 acres.

The ranch used to belong to legendary Texan Red Adair, a oil well firefighter. The 1968 film "Hellfighters" was loosely based on his life, and John Wayne played the character depicting Adair.
According to Austin Culture Map, the ranch, known as "Adair Ranch," was sold by the Adair family in 1997. Currently, a film called "Hot Air," which stars Jere Burns, Matthew Gray Gubler and Schuyler Fisk, is being filmed there.

"The ranch is home to an abundance of wildlife; whitetail deer, turkeys, and white winged doves to mention a few," The ranch's website states. "Sunrise, sunset, and wildlife will fascinate anyone longing for privacy and nature. Future development opportunities exist on numerous vistas throughout the ranch."

The house on the ranch, which was built in 2001, has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, a pool, an outdoor entertaining area and a guest house.  Micheal and Stacy Spickes of Realty Austin have the listing, according to Austin Culture Map.
